Mbappé scored 44 goals in 59 games in his first season at Real Madrid, a club record for a debut season, won the Pichichi and his first European Golden Shoe with 31 La Liga goals, and scored a hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League. Haaland scored 34 in 48 for City, 22 of them in a Premier League season that began with ten goals in five games and ended with City third, trophyless and beaten in the FA Cup final. Real Madrid won two super cups and nothing else. Every number from the season is below.

Club totals are all competitions for the 2024-25 season. Haaland's season assists are shown as – because no verifiable all-competitions figure exists; his 3 Premier League assists appear in the league row of the club table and in the Understat rows. The hat-trick count covers club and country within the season window (1 July 2024 to 31 July 2025). The head-to-head section lists only matches in which both players took the field, so the second leg at the Bernabéu on 19 February 2025, when Haaland was an unused substitute, is counted in the teams' record but not in the players' head-to-head. Team trophies include the three super cups played inside the window. International figures are by calendar year, as the dataset records them.

Haaland's domestic cup row is the FA Cup only (runners-up); City went out of the EFL Cup before he played in it. Both players' "Other" competitions are split out: the 2025 Club World Cup (June–July 2025) is filed under 2024-25, as Wikipedia does, because it closed that season. Mbappé's Supercopa de España row covers the semi-final and the final in Jeddah.

Haaland twice put City ahead, but Mbappé's scrappy 60' equaliser, Brahim Díaz's 86' strike and Jude Bellingham's 90+2' winner gave Real Madrid a 3-2 comeback win at the Etihad. Referee: Clément Turpin.

Mbappé, 25 when he arrived on a free transfer, scored on his debut in the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta on 14 August 2024 and then spent the autumn being asked whether he was worth it: he was played as a central striker to keep Vinícius Júnior on the left, missed penalties against Liverpool and Athletic Club in the same week of early December, and had fewer than half of his eventual league total by Christmas. From January he was the player Madrid had bought. A hat-trick at Valladolid on 25 January, three against City at the Bernabéu in February, and three more in a 4-3 defeat at Barcelona in May that all but decided the title carried him to 31 La Liga goals in 34 games, the Pichichi by four from Robert Lewandowski and the European Golden Shoe ahead of Viktor Gyökeres and Mohamed Salah. His 44 in all competitions beat Iván Zamorano's 37 as the most by a Real Madrid player in a debut season, and matched his best PSG total, in the most games he has ever played in a season. The team, though, lost the Supercopa final 5-2 and the Copa del Rey final 3-2 to Barcelona, finished four points behind them in the league, and Carlo Ancelotti left before the Club World Cup, where Mbappé missed the group stage with gastroenteritis and scored once, an overhead kick against Dortmund.
Haaland, 24 in August, began with the fastest start in Premier League history: a goal at Chelsea, hat-tricks against Ipswich and West Ham on consecutive Saturdays, two at Brentford and one against Arsenal, ten goals in five games. Then Rodri tore his cruciate ligament, City won one of thirteen matches between late October and Boxing Day, and Haaland's scoring slowed with the team's. He signed a new contract to 2034 in January, finished with 22 league goals in 31 games, third behind Salah and Alexander Isak, and was then injured. An ankle injury in the FA Cup quarter-final at Bournemouth on 30 March kept him out for seven weeks; he returned for the run-in and the final, where he handed the penalty to Omar Marmoush, who missed, and City lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace. His 34 across all competitions include 3 at the Club World Cup in June, where City went out to Al Hilal in the round of 16. It was his first season without a major trophy since 2021-22; the Community Shield won on penalties in August is the only honour in this table.
The new league-phase format put both clubs in the knockout play-off round, City 22nd and Madrid 11th, and the draw paired them. In the first leg at the Etihad on 11 February 2025, Haaland scored his first goals against Real Madrid, a volley from Jack Grealish's cross and a late penalty, and twice put City ahead; Mbappé's mis-hit equaliser off his shin, Brahim Díaz and Jude Bellingham in the 92nd minute won it 3-2 for Madrid. Haaland jarred his knee against Newcastle four days later and was an unused substitute for the second leg, so the 19 February match is not in the players' head-to-head record, but it belonged to Mbappé: a lob over Ederson in the fourth minute, a second after dropping Joško Gvardiol, and a third with his left foot after a stepover past Phil Foden, a 3-1 win and a 6-3 aggregate. It was his first Champions League hat-trick for Madrid and the first time either player had scored three against the other's club. Madrid then beat Atlético on penalties and lost 5-1 on aggregate to Arsenal in the quarter-final.
Haaland scored 8 in 9 Champions League games, 6 in the league phase including two in the 3-3 draw with Feyenoord and one in the 4-2 collapse at Paris Saint-Germain, and 2 in the play-off first leg, so his per-game rate was the better of the two despite City's exit before the round of 16. Mbappé's 7 in 14 were 3 in the league phase, against Stuttgart, Atalanta and Salzburg, and 4 in the knockouts, all of them against City. He did not score in the four games against Atlético and Arsenal.
Haaland's league season was his least productive at City: 22 goals from 23.95 expected goals (-1.95) on 3.60 shots per 90, the lowest of his career, as the team that had fed him stopped creating. He still converted 13 of 28 big chances (46.4%), a better rate than the season before, and scored 3 of 4 penalties. Mbappé took 4.90 shots per 90 and scored 31 from 30.14 xG (+0.86), with 7 of 9 penalties and 14 of 35 big chances (40.0%). His 0.95 goals per 90 against Haaland's 0.72 is the widest gap between them in any season on this site, and it ran the other way from 2022-23.
Haaland scored 11 for Norway in 2024, most of them in a Nations League group Norway won to earn promotion to League A, including a hat-trick against Kazakhstan in November; his 17 in 2025 began with doubles against Moldova and Israel in the World Cup qualifiers in March. Mbappé scored 2 for France in 2024, both at or around Euro 2024, and was left out of the autumn squads by agreement with Didier Deschamps while he settled in Madrid. He returned in March 2025 and scored 7 in 2025, including a penalty in the 5-4 Nations League semi-final defeat to Spain. Both players' later 2025 totals fall in the next season. The international page has both careers year by year; all meetings between the two are on the head-to-head page.
44 goals and 5 assists in 59 appearances in 2024-25, a Real Madrid record for a debut season: 31 in La Liga (Pichichi and European Golden Shoe), 7 in the Champions League, 2 in the Copa del Rey and 4 across the UEFA Super Cup, Intercontinental Cup, Supercopa and Club World Cup.
34 club goals in 48 appearances for Manchester City: 22 in 31 Premier League games, 8 in the Champions League, 1 in the FA Cup and 3 at the 2025 Club World Cup. He added 11 for Norway in 2024.
Yes, once with both on the pitch: the Champions League play-off first leg on 11 February 2025, which Real Madrid won 3-2 at the Etihad with Haaland scoring twice and Mbappé once. Mbappé scored a hat-trick in the 3-1 second leg on 19 February, but Haaland was an unused substitute, so that game counts in the teams' record and not in the players' head-to-head.
Mbappé: 44 goals to 34, the Pichichi and the European Golden Shoe, 5 individual awards to 0, a hat-trick against City and a Champions League quarter-final against City's play-off exit. Haaland's season had the record start and the first-leg double but was broken by City's collapse and an ankle injury.
Very little. Haaland won the FA Community Shield with Manchester City and lost the FA Cup final. Mbappé won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup with Real Madrid and lost the Supercopa and Copa del Rey finals to Barcelona. Individually Mbappé won the Pichichi Trophy, the European Golden Shoe and Real Madrid's Player of the Season award.
