Mbappé scored 44 goals and 10 assists in 48 games for Paris Saint-Germain, the best club total of his career, won the league and cup double and was joint top scorer of the Champions League, then left for Real Madrid as PSG's record goalscorer. Club totals are all competitions for the 2023-24 season. Haaland's season assists are shown as – because no verifiable all-competitions figure exists; his 5 Premier League assists appear in the league row of the club table and in the Understat rows. The hat-trick count covers club and country within the season window (1 July 2023 to 31 July 2024), so Mbappé's treble against Gibraltar and Haaland's against Kosovo are included. Team trophies include the two super cups played inside the window. The Ballon d'Or placings of October 2023 (Haaland second, Mbappé third) and the calendar-year awards of 2023 reward the previous season and are not counted here. International figures are by calendar year, as the dataset records them.

Haaland's domestic cup row is the FA Cup only; City went out of the EFL Cup before he played in it. His "Other" row is the FA Community Shield on 6 August 2023 (lost to Arsenal on penalties) and the UEFA Super Cup on 16 August 2023 (beat Sevilla on penalties). Mbappé's "Other" row is the Trophée des Champions 2023, played on 3 January 2024, in which he scored. His Coupe de France assists are an estimate from footballtransfers.com, cross-checked against match reports.

Haaland, 23 when the season began, was named UEFA Men's Player of the Year in August and finished runner-up to Lionel Messi in the October Ballon d'Or. He scored twice on the opening night at Burnley, a hat-trick in a 5-1 win over Fulham on 2 September, and had 14 league goals by early December when a stress injury in his foot took him out until the end of January, costing him the Club World Cup, which City won without him. He returned to score 5 in an FA Cup tie at Luton on 27 February, then 4 against Wolves on 4 May as City chased Arsenal down. His 27 in 31 games won the Golden Boot by five goals, and City's 3-1 win over West Ham on the final day made them the first English club to win four top-flight titles in a row. The 38 across all competitions is 14 fewer than the record season before, from eight fewer games.
The season started with Mbappé, 24, left out of PSG's pre-season tour and training apart from the squad after telling the club he would not extend a contract expiring in June 2024. He was reintegrated in mid-August and then scored at a rate PSG had never had from him: 27 Ligue 1 goals in 29 games for a sixth straight Golden Boot and a fifth Player of the Year award, 8 in 6 Coupe de France games including a hat-trick against sixth-tier Revel and the second goal in the final against Lyon, and a goal in the Trophée des Champions. The 44 goals in 48 club games beat his previous best of 41. In February he told the club he would leave; Luis Enrique began taking him off early, and the 25 May cup final in Lille was his 308th and last PSG game, with his 256th goal. Real Madrid announced his signing on 3 June 2024.
Mbappé's 8 goals in 12 games made him joint top scorer of the 2023-24 Champions League with Harry Kane. PSG came through a group with Dortmund, Milan and Newcastle in which he scored 3, two of them penalties, then 5 in the knockouts: one in the first leg and two in the second against Real Sociedad, then two in the 4-1 win at Barcelona that turned a quarter-final PSG had been losing. The semi-final against Dortmund, Haaland's old club, went 1-0 to the Germans in both legs, with PSG hitting the woodwork six times across the tie. Haaland's 6 in 9 were 5 in the group stage, four of them against Young Boys, and one in the round of 16 against Copenhagen. City went out to Real Madrid in the quarter-final on penalties after 3-3 in Madrid and 1-1 at the Etihad; Haaland, carrying a knock, had been substituted before the shoot-out.
This is the one Premier League season in which Haaland scored fewer goals than the chances were worth. His 27 came from 31.65 expected goals (-4.65), with 7 of 8 penalties scored and a big-chance conversion of 33.3% (12 of 36), down from 50% in the treble season. The chance supply was as good as ever, 0.26 xG per shot, but the finishing was not. Mbappé went the other way: 27 from 21.30 xG (+5.70), 6 of 8 penalties, and 8 of 16 big chances (50.0%). He also played 437 fewer league minutes, partly because of the early substitutions in the spring, so his 1.13 goals per 90 against Haaland's 0.94 is the clearest gap of the season.
Mbappé scored 10 for France in 2023, including a hat-trick in the 14-0 win over Gibraltar on 18 November, France's biggest ever victory. Euro 2024 falls inside this season's window and was his most frustrating tournament: he broke his nose against Austria in the first game, played the rest in a mask and scored only a penalty against Poland before France lost the semi-final to Spain. Haaland's Norway did not qualify. He scored 6 in 2023, and his 11 in 2024 began with a hat-trick against Kosovo in a June friendly; most of the rest came in the Nations League in the autumn, which belongs to the next season.
City and PSG were kept apart by the Champions League draw again, so 2023-24 was the last of four straight seasons without a Haaland v Mbappé match. The nearest they came was the quarter-final round in April 2024, when City lost to Real Madrid and PSG beat Barcelona on consecutive nights. They next met in February 2025, by which time Mbappé was a Real Madrid player. All meetings are on the head-to-head page; the international page has both careers year by year.
38 club goals in 45 appearances for Manchester City: 27 in 31 Premier League games, which won him a second straight Golden Boot, 6 in the Champions League and 5 in the FA Cup, all of them against Luton. He added 6 for Norway in 2023.
44 goals and 10 assists in 48 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain, his highest club total: 27 in Ligue 1, 8 in the Champions League, 8 in the Coupe de France and 1 in the Trophée des Champions. He also scored 10 for France in 2023.
Mbappé on most counts: 44 club goals to 38, 3 trophies to 2, 4 individual awards to 1, a Champions League semi-final and the competition's joint top-scorer award. Haaland won the bigger league title, City's fourth in a row, and the Premier League Golden Boot, but missed two months with a foot injury.
No. Manchester City and PSG were not drawn together in the Champions League, and Norway did not qualify for Euro 2024. It was the fourth straight season without a meeting; they next played each other in February 2025.
Haaland won the Premier League and the UEFA Super Cup with Manchester City and the Premier League Golden Boot. Mbappé won Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions with PSG, was Ligue 1 top scorer and Player of the Year, and finished joint top scorer of the Champions League.
